This handset’s main advantage is clearly style, with its two-tone black charcoal color scheme, and antenna-free clamshell design. The 65,000-color display is also a nice touch, and serves as a viewfinder for the relatively sharp VGA camera.

Although the built in speakerphone is a convenient extra, the overall call quality of this device is somewhat mediocre. The GPRS data connection is also a bit on the slow side, but does manage to get the job done when downloading games, sending pictures, and using mobile instant messaging.

Overall, this budget device is one of the most stylish phones in its price range. In most other ways, it’s perfectly adequate, but doesn’t exceed expectations.

    Provider: T-Mobile
    Price: $99* (with one-year contract)
